DOROTHY MARIE OESTMANN
1926 - 2016


Dorothy Marie Gerfen Oestmann, longtime Cushing area resident, passed away Friday evening, November 25, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.
The daughter of the late William Fredrick Gerfen and Elise Christine Ewen Gerfen, Dorothy was born on April 27, 1926 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She came to the Avery community as a small child, traveling by covered wagon, and had lived here since.
She was united in marriage to Melvin Paul Oestmann on June 1, 1946 and to this union two children, Melvina and Ron were born.
The couple, along with John and Lou Peterman and Carl and Linda Tarver, owned and operated the Top Auction Company. Dorothy was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. She was a very talented seamstress; enjoyed gardening, cooking, and being a great wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being active at the Cushing Senior Citizen Center and supporting Bible distribution with the Gideon’s International, serving in the ladies auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Melvin Oestmann of the home; one daughter Melvina Clinton of Tulsa; one son Ron Oestmann of Tulsa; one grandson Chris Clinton of Tulsa; three sisters-in-law, Claudia, Pansy and Phyllis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Genevieve Oestmann, Louis Gerfen, Art Gerfen, Harold Gerfen and Martin Gerfen, and one son-in-law Phillip Clinton.
The family will greet friends in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Davis Funeral Home, on Wednesday, November 30, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer with Pastor Mark Duer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, 352025 E 780 Road, Cushing, Oklahoma 74023.
