LUCIAN DALE MYRICK
1924 - 2012


Lucian Dale “Luke” Myrick, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 88.
Luke was born on February 13, 1924 in Agra, Oklahoma to the late Ira C. and Irene Harmon Myrick.
He grew up in and attended school in Agra.
Luke entered the U.S. Coast Guard and served his country during World War II. While in the Coast Guard, he was a canine trainer and mounted beach patrol, receiving an honorable discharge.
After returning from the service, he married Colleen Cook on December 24, 1947 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. To this union LaDonna, Larry and Terri were born.
He worked for City Service Refinery in Cushing for a few years. He then began farming and ranching full time. He loved working outside with the livestock and in the fields.
He enjoyed quail hunting, traveling and O.U. Football. Luke loved people and always saw the good in everyone.
After the death of his wife in 1992, he married Bobbie Bishop on May 15, 1996 in Rogers, Arkansas. They attended Cushing Christian Church.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Luke is survived by his wife, Bobbie of the home, son, Larry Myrick and wife, Lou Ann; daughter, Terri Foster and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Cassie Ring and husband, Hunter; Emily Foster and Evan Foster; one great grandson, Hagan Ring, all of Cushing; step-son, Donald Wayne Garrison and wife, Sonya of Tulsa; step-daughter, Jeanne Hays and husband, Brad of Bristow; step-grandchildren, Rochel Linaweaver, Rance Hays, Renee Hays, J. R. Garrison, Melissa Garrison and Amber O’Rourke; eight step-great grandchildren, brother, Ira Myrick Jr. and wife, Louise of Rogers, Arkansas; sister, Betty Sehie and husband, Clifford of Nixa, Missouri; Uncle Wilbur “Porky” Harmon, Aunt Velma Schlegel, Cousin Marion Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Colleen, infant daughter, LaDonna Myrick, sisters, Pauline Lonon and Ilene Rikard and brother-in-law Jack Lonon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Brother Jim Forest will officiate.
Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
