THELMA JOSEPHINE MILLER
1922 - 2016


Thelma Josephine Wright Miller was born June 7, 1922 in Sparks, Oklahoma to Leslie Wright and Mary Josephine Campbell. She passed away June 27, 2016 in Wellston at the age of 94.
Thelma was raised in Sparks, with her two siblings and by her mother following the death of her father. She often spoke of her appreciation of having her paternal grandparents help raise them as well.
Thelma graduated from Sparks High School in 1940.
Later that month she married Glen Roy Miller and together raised their daughter.
Following Glen’s tour in World War II they moved to the Rossville area where they still reside today.
Thelma’s life revolved around her church, the Church of the Nazarene, where she taught teens and served on the missionary council on mission trips in 8 different countries. She also served as a Lincoln County Precinct Official for 50 years.
She never owned a coat or dress which she didn’t hand create until she was 80 years of age.
Thelma will be remembered for her quilted yo-yo’s and cinnamon rolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Mary Wright; brother, Carl Wright; sister, Mabel Sherrill and brother, Wayne Johnson.
Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Glen Miller of the home; daughter, Glenda Sue and her husband Ira Taylor of Wellston; three grandchildren, Emberly and her husband Dale Markwell, Latisha and her husband Kenny Boston and Kelsey Pinelo-Taylor and her fiancé Steiger Hart; two great-grandchildren, Jeffery Markwell and his fiancé Christine Sapp and Anthony Pinelo; sister, Joan Roundtree; as well as many other family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
