ALMAN "POPS" ANDREW METZLER

14 Jul 1925 - 30 May 2011

Metzler, Alman “Pops” Andrew, 85, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in Meeker, Oklahoma. He was born July 14, 1925 in Fresno, California to John and Elizabeth (Wenig) Metzler. He was united in marriage on April 15, 1977 in Fresno to Susan Stirling.

Alman proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was a maintenance supervisor in the industrial food business and a chef for a resort in California. Alman and his family moved to Oklahoma from Fresno in 1993. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, tinkering, playing cards and attending OU Women's Basketball games. Alman was a quiet leader of his family and loved them with all of his heart.

Alman is survived by his wife, Susan Stirling-Metzler of the home; children, John Metzler, Leroy Metzler, Bobby Metzler, Susie Metzler, Terry Metzler, David Martella, Bill Martella, Robert Martella and Joann Dean; and numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his son, Larry Metzler.
