NANCY ANN McMAHAN
1955 - 2013


Nancy Ann Bowen McMahan, 58, died December 15, 2013, at her home in Meeker, Oklahoma.
She was born April 8, 1955, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Harvey Bowen Jr. and Wanda June Bowen McMahan.
She was a 1973 graduate of Meeker High School in Meeker, Oklahoma. She attended Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma where she received her Associate's Degree. Nancy then attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education.
She spent her teaching career at Meeker Elementary School where she enjoyed time with students she loved. She taught there for 20 years until her health forced her to retire in May 2012.
Nancy married Steve McMahan on April 27, 1986.
She was a gifted decorator and helped family and friends call their houses a home.
She loved to travel and would joyfully sing, "We're on vacation".
Nancy is survived by her husband, Steve McMahan; one son, Aaron Palmer and fiancé, Tosha Edmonds of Meeker; one daughter, Emily Gideon and husband, Bobby Gideon of Shawnee; one granddaughter, Brylee Grace Palmer of Meeker; her mother, June McMahan of Meeker; three brothers, Jerry McMahan and wife, Stacy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Kelly Bowen and wife, Diana of Weleetka; and Dan Bowen and wife, Marla of Meeker; three sisters, Jane Fletcher and husband, Kenny of Broken Arrow; Cindy Bidack and husband, Jimmy of McLoud; and Linda McMahan of Shawnee; fifteen nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews and many close family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Bowen Jr.; father-in-law, Roy McMahan; and grandparents, Fred and Fannie Frost; and Harvey T. and Clara Bowen.
Thank you to the community for the outpouring of love and support for Nancy and her family throughout her battle with cancer.
The McMahan family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Meeker Assembly of God in Meeker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Meeker Assembly of God, in Meeker with Kelly Bowen officiating.
Nancy will be laid to rest at Jamison Cemetery in Jacktown.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
