VELMA GARRISON McFARLIN
1934 - 2012


Velma Garrison McFarlin, age 78 of Parkland, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012 at her home.
She was born on April 19, 1934 in Armada, Arkansas to Loomis Pete and Elsie Eva Rutherford Garrison.
They lived in Arkansas for the first nine years of her life. They moved to Fresno, California in 1943 where she lived with her parents until she was united in marriage to Henry McFarlin on February 11, 1952 by Brother Cecil Rossiter. They made their home in California most of the time until they moved to Oklahoma on June 15, 1975.
She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at Three Rivers near Tulare, California on September 15, 1951 by Brother Bobby Wittman.
Velma is survived by her five sons, Lawrence McFarlin and wife Joanne of Parkland; Darell McFarlin and wife Joni of Stillwater; Gilbert McFarlin and wife Tama of Morrison; Albert McFarlin and wife Suzie of Agra; Steve McFarlin and wife Sharon of Carney; brothers Alfred Garrison of California; Harold Garrison and wife Betty of California; Gene Garrison and wife Ann of Wetumpka, Oklahoma; sister Lula Combs of California; sister-in-law Michelle Garrison of Bakersfield, California; grandchildren Deshea and Todd McCombs; Shanna and Larry McFarlin; Daren and Chaney McFarlin; Carrie McFarlin, Eva McFarlin, Mathew McFarlin, Nicole and Bryan Ragland, Tabitha and Jessie Rupe, Pamela and Raymond Carter, Karen and Tony Bates, Michelle Floyd, Heather and Jayson Focht, Candice and David Hartsoe, Travis McFarlin, Jessie McFarlin, and Chris McFarlin; great grandchildren Madison, Fisher, Griffin, Alida, Isabella, Daxton, Alexis, Ace, Brooklin, Zoey, Sierra, Connor, Nick, Joshua, Nathan, Michael, Jessica, Jacen, Rosamary, Jillian, Taygan, Riley, Caleb, Loralei, Holden, Mesha, Brittney, Jacob, Raymond, Jesse, Shiann, Wynona, Anthony, Shyla, Trey and Justice; and a host of friends and brethren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Elsie Garrison; two sisters Sarah Thornblad and Marie Danz; three brothers Chuck, Henry and Bud Garrison; and grandchildren Eric Perkins and Lora McFarlin; and her husband, Henry McFarlin of 44 years of marriage.
She was a faithful member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and assembled in Carney, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Carney General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. Brother Leonard Holman and Brother John Rossiter will officiate.
Interment will be held at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
