LEE RAY McFARLIN
1930 - 2012


Lee Ray McFarlin, age 82 of Cleveland, formerly of Okmulgee, passed away at his home on November 29, 2012.
He was born on June 13, 1930 in Agra to Arthur Monroe McFarlin and Nellie Ruth Burger McFarlin.
He grew up and attended Parkland school. Lee Ray worked hard on the farm with his family while he was growing up.
He married Betty Bullard in 1949, to this union seven children were born.
They made their home in Okmulgee where Lee Ray worked for the American St. Gobain Glass Company for twenty seven years. He later married Flossea Drucilla Maghe in 1970, to this union three children were born.
After retiring from the Glass Company, he began working for Wadley and Son's Oilfield Co. He moved to Cleveland in 1996 where he resided until his death.
He enjoyed working in his garden, sitting on his back porch drinking a cup of coffee and watching the chickens.
Lee Ray was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn being baptized by Brother Bob Whitman.
He liked to fish, coon hunt, ride horses, but most of all enjoyed family gatherings and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing tricks on others, just to make them laugh.
Lee Ray is survived by his children Marsha Myrter and husband Dave of Sapulpa; Patricia Burrow and husband Thomas of Beggs; Julie Shahan and husband Greg of Woodward; Shelly Stephens and husband Joe of Schulter, Oklahoma; Lee Anne Criner of Cushing; Cindy Johnson of Sperry, Oklahoma; and Jimmy McFarlin of Cleveland; brother Loyal “Bud” McFarlin and wife Lois of Tryon; sisters Mary Rains and husband Leo of Ripley; Ollie Rossiter of Dexter, Oregon; twenty four grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and close friend Ben Johnson.
Lee Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sons Eric McFarlin, Ricky McFarlin and Roger McFarlin; brothers James, Henry, Clarence and Arthur McFarlin; sisters Faye Pruitt, Sarah Linder Carmichael, Nina Hood Rodgers, Thelma “Sis” Wittman and Ervie Murch.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, in Parkland, Oklahoma.
