LYLE LAVERT LEWIS
1907 - 2000


Shawnee resident Lyle Lavert "L. L." Lewis died Friday at his home. He was 93.
Lewis was born May 24, 1907, in Nursery, Texas, to Cyrus Holbert Lewis and Martha Elizabeth Hartin Lewis.
He married Cleo Belle Daniel on January 8, 1933, in Milsap, Texas.
In 1934, he moved to Oklahoma City and began work for Steffen's Dairy. In 1948, he moved to the Shawnee plant on west Main Street. After retirement, he worked another 20 years for Markwell Auction and Real Estate.
He was a longtime member and elder of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Farrell and Mary Lynn Lewis, Oklahoma City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gail and Vernon Markwell, Meeker; Bonnie Stringer, Shawnee; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Lynda Markwell, Debbie and Randy Flowers, Lisa and Mark Armitage, Jay and Stephanie Stringer, Stephen and Britt Lewis, Dr. Jeffrey Lewis and Charlsie and Thomas Reyenga Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cleo, on June 4, 1999; son, Teddy Lavert Lewis; seven sisters and one grandchild.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ, 10th and Shawnee Streets, with Vernon Markwell and Harold Gibson officiating.
Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
