HELLEN MOZELLE LEGAKO
1919 - 2010


Hellen Mozelle Baber Legako was born November 25, 1919 in Wellston and passed away peacefully August 31, 2010 in Oklahoma City. Hellen was the 6th of 8 children born to Purl Z. and Eva Mae Baber.
She attended the Martin one room school through the 8th grade. She then attended Wellston High School and graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1938.
Hellen married Adrian Legako in May 1940. They lived together on their farm in Wellston for 52 years and had one child, Ronal Dee Legako.
In addition to working on the farm with her husband she was active in the Wellston Farm Women’s Club and served as the Wellston 4H Club Leader for several years. She also served as the historian for the Wellston Alumni Association, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a member of the Wellston Assembly of God Church all her life.
She worked as a nurse at Mileham Hospital in Chandler, and Lincoln County School, as well as serving as a teacher’s aide at Wellston Schools.
Hellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her sister, Zelma Christy; son, Dee Legako and his wife Pat of Edmond; grandson, Kevin Legako and wife Yuki; and one great-grand daughter, Gabrielle.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Wellston Assembly of God Church with interment in the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home.
