MARY ANN LEAKE
1862 - 1942


Funeral services for Mary Ann Leake who died Friday, June 20, were held from the Stone Schoolhouse at 3:00 Sunday afternoon.
Rev. Ira L. Crabtree, of Hominy, former pastor of the Methodist Church in Chandler had charge of the services, with Rev. Gray and Rev. Fenn, assisting.
A duet, composed of Wanda and Verona Beasler, and a quartet from the Assembly of God Tabernacle of Chandler, consisting of George Grider, Clyde Taber, Rev. L. H. Belknap, and Mrs. Frank Grinstaff, furnished the music.

Flower girls were Mrs. Doy Key, Mrs. Eli Bridge, Mrs. Earl Tislow, Mrs. Ed Davis, Mrs. Ellen Bridge and Mrs. Joe Kalka.
Burial was in the Davenport Cemetery.





Mary Ann Johnson was the daughter of William and Charlotte Johnson, who immigrated from England to America in the early part of the century, locating near Jacksonville, Illinois.
She was born September 10, 1862, the fourth of five children born to this couple.
In March, 1891, she was married to John Leake at Jacksonville, Illinois, after which they came to Lincoln County, Oklahoma, locating on the homestead two miles east of Chandler, which they owned and operated until the death of Mr. Leake, January 13, 1935.
To this union six children were born: James A., Alice C., Grace M., William E., Charles E., and Florence Viola. Alice C. Waller, Charles E. Leake and Florence Viola Ramsey preceded their mother in death.
Mrs. Leake leaves to mourn her going three children: James A. Leake, Grace M. Taber, and William E. Leake, all of Chandler; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many old time neighbors and friends.
Mrs. Leake became a member of the Methodist church in the early days, remaining faithful to the church of her choice throughout the years.
Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Leake of Dallas, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Pendergraft and J. B. Leake of Edmond; Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Weaver of Shidler; Mr. and Mrs. Rex Farmer of Sparks; Rev. and Mrs. Sig Gray of Davenport and Rev. Ira Crabtree of Hominy.

We wish to thank the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the death and burial of our dear mother; also for the beautiful floral offerings.
