ILENE MAY JAMES
1922 - 2013


Ilene May Griggs James was born on July 19, 1922, at Jacktown, Oklahoma and departed this life on Friday, February 8, 2013, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 90.
Ilene, the daughter of W. C. and Faye Boland Griggs, was a resident of Meeker.
She attended McLoud and Dale Schools and graduated from Dale High School.
She and Kermin James were married in Chandler, Oklahoma on November 22, 1941.
Mrs. James had worked for Lewis Manufacturing for 19 years before she retired.
She was a member of the Mammoth Baptist Church, was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and scrapbooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Loy Griggs and her husband on March 27, 1993.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Coy and Evelyn James of Meeker, one daughter and son in law, Karen and Randall Avery of Scurry, Texas, one brother and sister in law, Orville and Juanita Griggs of Meeker, five grandchildren, Tommy and Felicia James, Darrin James, Stephanie and Eddie Chandler, Jason and Randi Avery and Heather Avery, nine great grandchildren as well as numerous friends.
Viewing and Visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Mammoth Baptist Church with Rev. Don Jones and Rev. Mike Hazlewood officiating.
Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
