ANITA JOYCE JACKSON
1941 - 2010


Anita Joyce Pennington Jackson, an Agra area resident, passed away on July 7, 2010 at the age of 69 years.
The daughter of the late Jess Pennington and Virgie Sorrells Pennington, Anita was born in Glenwood, Arkansas.
At a very young age she moved with her family to California near the coast.
On October 9, 1955 Anita was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Arcata, California.
During that same day her future husband, Odell Jackson was also baptized. They were united in marriage on October 21, 1956 in Arcata, California. They made their home in Arcata for two years before moving to Sacramento, California. They moved to Cushing on August 31, 2000.
Odell preceded her in death on June 12, 2001. Anita eventually moved to Agra where she has since lived.
In her spare time Anita enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, and reading. Her family will remember her for her love of the ocean and a wonderful grandmother who loved talking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Anita is survived by one daughter, Heather Rupert and her husband Jeff of Agra; two sons, Russ Jackson and his wife Dena of San Jose, California; and Kenny Jackson and his wife Berta of Cushing; two sisters, Thestle Mays of McKinleyville, Calfornia; and Nellie McCulley and her husband Don of Cabot, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Travis, Logan, Wade Jackson;and Ashlee and Carady Rupert; three great-grandchildren, Travis Jr., Payton and Jacob Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She is also survived by her companion, her dog Flower.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anita was preceded in death by two brothers, Cliff and Lowell Pennington.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Osage Church of the Firstborn, north of Agra with Brothers Tony Imry and Carl Retherford officiating.
Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
