DONALD ALLEN HICKS
1954 - 2012


Donald Allen Hicks, of McKinney, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2012. Don was born on a military base in LaChapelle – St. Mesmin, France on September 6, 1954. He lived in Oklahoma most of his life and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1973.
Don met the love of his life, Joyce Hallman, in 1974 and they were married in 1977. Their only daughter, Heather, was born three years later.
He was a loving father and husband, and loved spending time with “his girls.”
Don later continued his education earning an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems at Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Management & Ethics from Mid-America Christian University also in Oklahoma City.
Don and Joyce moved to Texas in 2006 and joined First Baptist Carrollton, continuing the drive to church each week even after moving to McKinney.
He loved collecting antiques and adding to his wife’s Coca-Cola collection; he loved OU football, Dr. Pepper, Oreo cookies, his ’66 Ford Mustang, and his golden retriever, Shelby.
Don was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ronald Hicks and his parents, Bradley and Edith Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hicks and daughter, Heather Hicks; his sister, Randi Walker; nephew, Jason Walker and wife, Jennifer Walker; great-nephew, Beck Walker, and numerous cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7 at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, 2400 North Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006, with a visitation before and after the service.
Burial services will take place in Rossville, Oklahoma on Monday, January 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Rossville Cemetery.
