EUGENE JAMES OTTO HERRMANN
1923 - 2013


Eugene James Otto Herrmann, former Cushing resident now of Galveston, Texas passed away on October 10, 2013 at the age of 89 years.
The son of the late Carl Herrmann and Violet Evans Herrmann, Eugene was born on October 18, 1923 in Parkland, Oklahoma. After the loss of his mother at a young age, he was raised by his step-mother, Bonnie Herrmann.
Eugene was united in marriage to Hazel Harris on April 2, 1952 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They had two children, Gary Lee Herrmann and Cathy Jean Duncan. The couple owned and operated the Gibble Gas station in Wynona, Oklahoma for many years. They were co-owners of Herrmann and Ikenberry Oil Co. before returning to Cushing, Oklahoma. They had lived the last two years in Galveston.
Eugene was a veteran of the Korean War, a farmer, a rancher, and oilman. He was a founding member of the Victory Baptist Church in Pershing, Oklahoma. He was active in the Wynona Round-Up Club.
He enjoyed spending time with his family; fishing and hunting with his grandkids, listening to music and singing, and feeding his cows.
Survivors include his son, Gary Herrmann and wife Debbie of Lufkin, Texas; daughter, Cathy Duncan of Galveston, Texas; six grandchildren, Tamela Grass; Stephen Herrmann and wife Tara; Michael Herrmann; Lauren Dawson and husband Eric; Jonathan Wilson; Jaimi Germain and husband Phil; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dwayne Herrmann of Agra, Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by three sisters, Elois Kirkpatrick, Alice Drake, Tennessee Crow and two brothers, A.C. Herrmann and Alva Herrmann.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Agra First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Brian Meyers.
Burial will follow in the Avery Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center.
