LILLIE JANE CHAPMAN HENDERSON
1929 - 2015


Lillie Jane Chapman Henderson, longtime employee of Bray Lines and the First Christian Church, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, in Enid at the age of 85 ½ years.
The daughter of the late Dallas Chapman and Bessie Melton Chapman, Lillie Jane was born on December 23, 1929 in Davenport, Oklahoma and was raised and educated there, graduating from Davenport High School with the class of 1947, later attending Phillips University in Enid.
She was united in marriage to Everett Henderson on January 31, 1954 and to this union two daughters, Julie and Jennifer, were born.
Lillie Jane was one of the first Bray Line Girls and had worked for them for over 32 years. She then worked for Jett Oil Company for 4 years, and retired as the Secretary for the First Christian Church in 1994, working there for 10 years.
She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1943 at the age of 13. Lillie Jane was very involved in the church, singing in the choir for over 40 years, as a Sunday School teacher, as the Church Librarian, a Guild member, a member of the C.W.F., a soloist, as well as being a Deaconess of the Church.
She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching her favorite TV family shows. She had also been a member of the Bray Lines Union as an officer, and a member of the Good Timers and the Music Club.
Survivors include her children, Julie Foster and her husband Robert of Cushing; and Jennifer Tooman-Horner and her husband Earl of Enid; two grandchildren, Bradley Tooman and his wife Rachel; and Mallory Monroe and spouse Brandi; her great grandchildren, Marek Tooman and Phoebe Tooman; and a great grandchild that is due in October, Finn Tooman; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including her best friend since 1947, Mary Louise Smith and her special kitty Momo.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and two sons-in-law, Terry Tooman and Fred W. McGee.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Cushing with Pastor Pat Sutherlin of Enid and Robert Foster of Cushing, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davenport Cemetery.
