DOROTHY JUNE HARRISON
1977 - 2009

Dorothy June Garrison Harrison, age 52, of Cushing, went to her new home in Heaven, Saturday morning, April 4, 2009 at the Cushing Regional Hospital.
Dorothy was a loving Mother, devoted Christian, and generous to those in need. To sum up her essence in one word it would be MOM. She truly had a mothers heart that extended far beyond just her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was compassionate, care giving and a good steward of all that God placed in her care. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman. The angels heralded this special and wonderful woman into the world on June 16, 1956 in Houston, Texas.
She was the daughter of Roy William and Mary Hall Griffin.
Her childhood was spent in Texas. She moved to Oklahoma in the late 70’s and raised a family. She at last came to reside in Cushing where some of her greatest giving was done. Dorothy’s calling and passion throughout her adult life was crusading for and ministering to the homeless and distribute. This passion gave birth to Loves Excelling Way, a shelter for the homeless that has now been opening for six years in Cushing. This allowed her to minister not only to peoples physicial needs but more importantly their spiritual need. Dorothy was never afraid or ashamed to share her witness for Jesus Christ. These strong beliefs combined with the great love in her heart gave drive and strength to her endeavors around Cushing and surrounding areas in and of the needy.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim Liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set a liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”. Luke 4:18-19. “Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly desposed.” Song of Solomon 8:7.
On the morning of April 4, 2009, Dorothy took one more flight with the angels straight to the loving arms of Jesus.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Troy Harrison and wife, Tabatha of Yale; Billy Jack Harrison and Michael Harrison, both of Cushing; two daughters, Shelly Harrison of Yukon and Laticia Harrison of Cushing; four sisters, Chery Barry of New Mexico; Roseanne James of Mannford; Barbara Robinett of Tulsa; Carol Stephenson of Bartlesville; two grandchildren, Donovan Gaylord of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Tristan Harrison of Yale.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those who wish may make memorials to the Dorothy June Harrison memorial fund in care of Spirit Bank in Cushing.
Her funeral services has been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Orton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Flynn Cemetery.
