KENNETH EUGENE HARGIS
1931 - 2011


Kenneth Eugene Hargis was born October 4, 1931, to his parents Ed and Edith Hargis in Rogers County, Oklahoma.
Grandpa and Grammy Hargis raised him on their farm near Claremore. He attended schools in that area, Harmony Star Elementary School and Claremore Sequoyah High School, graduating as Valedictorian of his senior class. He also attended Draughns School of Business, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ken was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company, Borger, Texas, for 42 years. He enjoyed his job.
He loved his Lord, reading his Bible and listening to gospel music. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Chandler.
His hobbies were golf, fishing, pheasant hunting, reading and watching the "little hummers".
On April 19, 1972, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, Ken married Mackie Gardner, his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life.
They moved to Chandler, Oklahoma in 1997 to be near their grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought such joy and delight to them.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mackie of the home; two sons, Mike and his wife Darlene of Hartford City, Indiana; Kirby and his wife Susan of Chandler; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Also a host of relatives and friends.
He was so loved and he will be missed.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the First Baptist Church.
Burial followed at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
