NORMAN ALVIN GRIMES
1940 - 2015


Norman Alvin Grimes was born on February 2, 1940, in Choctaw, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, April 9, 2015, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 75.
Al, the son of Jesse Elwood and Marie Alexandria Bruder Grimes, was a resident of Prague.
He proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy, serving three tours in Vietnam, before retiring in 1980. After retiring, he continued to serve as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After retiring from the Navy, Al went to Oklahoma State University, earning a degree in Business Administration.
A handyman, Al could fix anything, particularly with cars. He got a great amount of joy restoring cars for his friends.
Al married Alberta Provience Schmeusser Grimes on November 16, 2002 in Stroud.
Al's parents; four brothers, Robert Joe, Max Harvey, Carl Walter and Jesse Ellis; and one sister, Helen Ruth preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Grimes of Prague; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Gary Howarth of Chula Vista, California, Rhonda and Sonny Moore of Prague and Elizabeth Hellams of Chandler; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Janean Grimes of San Diego, California and Karl Frederick Schmeusser of Prague; grandsons, Ryan Cummings and Steven Hodge; granddaughters, Avalon Howarth and Aspen Rhianna Schmeusser; great grandchild, Keith Lee Hodge; brother and sister-in-law, Russell Lee and Yvonne Lorraine Grimes of Sparks; sister and brother-in-law, Susie and David Van Meter of Moore; ex-wife, Marilyn Bachus of Montana; other numerous family and friends.
The Grimes family will receive friends on Monday, April 13, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Prague with Rev. Derrek Belase officiating.
Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
