WAYNE GREENFIELD
1940 - 2010


Wayne Greenfield, a longtime Tryon resident, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Tiger Mountain Church Camp near Henryetta at the age of 70.
Wayne was born on March 3, 1940 in Chandler, Oklahoma to the late Claude and Ira Mae Jackson Greenfield.
He grew up and attended school in Agra.
Wayne married Marie Louise Herring on July 15, 1958 in Cushing, to this union two children were born, Glenda and Michael.
He was baptized by Fred Herring in February of 1962 into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado; England; San Antonio, Texas; Jacksonville; Arkansas and New Jersey . He served in Okinawa and Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. Wayne retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981, returning to the Tryon/Agra area.
After retiring, he worked ten years for Kerr McGee as a truck driver.
Wayne enjoyed socializing with family and friends, deer hunting and working on cars. He spent many afternoons drinking coffee and visiting at the Homestead Café in Cushing. Wayne enjoyed teasing and laughing and loved calling and seeing about others. He had a caring and loving heart. Wayne loved spending time with his father and mother-in law.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marie Greenfield; son Michael Greenfield of Tryon; daughter Glenda Mae Kyser and husband Edward of Cushing; brothers Doye Greenfield of Wyoming; Dale Greenfield and wife Shirley of Tryon; sister Darlene Richardson and husband Jack of Sapulpa; father-in-law Elba Herring of Cushing; grandchildren Dennis Greenfield, Jesse Greenfield, Cynthia Sanches, Rebecca Greenfield, Sheree’ Kyser Brown, Leroy Kyser, Joshua Kyser, Matthew Kyser and Paul Kyser; and fourteen great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Sisters-in-law Ida Lee Chesmore and husband Carl of Cushing; Lavine Greenfield of Cushing; GeorgeAnn Greenfield of Tryon; Loretta Smith and husband Danny of Cushing; and Stella Whitman and husband Ronnie of Stillwater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roy Greenfield, Hershel Greenfield, Edward Greenfield, Denson Greenfield, Jerry Greenfield and Sidney Greenfield; and sister Bertha Retherford.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Parkland, Oklahoma. Brother Randell Wright and Brother Fred Britton will officiate.
Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
