BERTHA IRENE GREENFIELD
1919 - 2011


Bertha Irene Retherford Greenfield, age 91 of Enid formerly of Tryon, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home in Enid.
Bertha was born on November 5, 1919 in Parkland, Oklahoma to Simon Peter and Christine Herrmann Retherford.
After a few years they moved to Cushing, where she attended school.
Bertha was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn at age 16.
She married Estel Greenfield on December 25, 1937 in Agra, Oklahoma. They made their home south east of Tryon, where they operated a dairy for a number of years.
She moved to Enid in 1975 where she had a daycare, enjoying her flowers, watching birds, painting, sewing, quilting and making ceramics. She always liked being busy. Bertha loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children Hubert Greenfield and wife Mona of Yale; Buford Greenfield and wife Louise of Purcell; Violet Clark and husband Jim of Wellston; LaVerne Morris and husband Rex of Indianapolis, Indiana; Donnie Greenfield and wife Hope of Enid; Ronnie Greenfield and wife DeLynn of Enid; brother Orlo Retherford of Oklahoma City; twenty three grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Estel, infant daughter Marilyn Greenfield, daughter Colleen Quinn, sister Pauline Cranke, brothers Roy, Vernon, Alfred and Bill Retherford.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Parkland Church of the Firstborn. Brother Randall Wright and Brother Herb Castor will officiate.
Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
