TROY S. GLADDEN
1924 - 2009

Troy S. Gladden, age 85, of Chandler, passed away on October 19, 2009 at The Renaissance in Stillwater.
Troy was born in the rural Chandler area on March 4, 1924 to William Perry and Alma Coda Wallace Gladden.
He was the 8th out of 11 children. Troy attended school in Tryon and Davenport. He was active in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Davenport. Troy received a scholarship to play football and baseball at Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University.
On November 6, 1945, he married Edna Herrmann in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Troy worked at several occupations including farming and ranching, seismograph and trucking, but the occupation he was most proud of was being a nationally registered engineer for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He was a construction engineer for a number of highways, bridges, airports, dams, and flood control devices. His last big project was the Arcadia Lake. He was in charge of the dirt work for this dam.
He had a reputation of being a demanding inspector. If something was not up to specifications, he made them tear it out and do it over again.
After retiring from the Corps of Engineers, he enjoyed running a cow/calf operation and taking care of his pecan grove.
Survivors include two brothers Bobby Joe of Klamouth Falls, Oregon; and Eddie Gladden of Tryon; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Rick and Maxine Gladden of Chandler; and Troy Keith and Christine Gladden of Agra; grandchildren Brett Gladden and Candy; Brien Gladden and Sherry; Melissa Davis and Frank; Glenda Taylor and Stephen; and Shelly Gladden; great grandchildren Chelsea, Nicholas and Rebekah Gladden; Skyler and Trever Gladden; Caroline and Elle Davis; Mason and Ashley Taylor; Austin and Erin Herrmann; and Slade and Jaida McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers and sisters, Cecil, Loma Mehan, Clara Eyestone, Beulah Willbanks, George, Myrtle Meyers, Otis and Billy Ray.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Parkland, Oklahoma. Brother Brett Gladden and Brother Brien Gladden will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
