VIOLA JENNIE GERTSEN
1904 - 2009


Viola Jennie Snook Gertsen was born in Kendrick, Oklahoma on September 16, 1904 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the age of 104.
Viola was the daughter of Owen Maxwell and Celya L. Tyler Snook.
She was a resident of Stroud since 1980 moving from Guthrie, Oklahoma. She graduated from Stroud High School in 1922, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stroud and was a homemaker.
She married Fred P. Gertsen in Stroud in 1924. He preceded her in death January 10, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Survivors include, one son, Fred M. Gertsen of Mims, Florida, one daughter, Viola Pearl Gooch of Durham, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Lisa, Judy, Sherri and Janice, four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephanie, Christie and Christopher, one great great grandchild, others relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held at the Stroud Cemetery on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joe Molencupp officiating.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
