TILMAN EUGENE FRANKLIN JR.
1945 - 2011


Tilman Eugene “Bud” Franklin, Jr. was born on July 21, 1945 in Cordell, Oklahoma. He graduated Cordell High School in 1963. Bud has resided in Meridian, Oklahoma since 1993.
Bud is survived by his wife, Connie Franklin of the home; mother, Loretta Emily Franklin of Guthrie, Oklahoma; son, Roger Dale “Chip” Johnson and wife, Laura of Meridian; daughter, Lori Cave of Mustang, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Megen Ryanne and Chase Wyatt of Meridian and Kolton William and Maycee Renee of Mustang; sister, Emily June “Sis” Cates and husband Harold of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; brother, Terry Gene Franklin and wife Donna of Gotebo, Oklahoma; two nephews; two nieces; two grandnephews; four grandnieces; one great-grand-nephew; and one great-grand-niece.
Bud was an avid farmer. He raised cattle and bailed hay his entire life. He was born into farming and was proud his son chose to follow in the family’s farming tradition.
During his life, Bud was also a business owner and an equipment operator. Most recently he worked for Equal Energy and enjoyed his job immensely. He enjoyed the company of his co-workers and was especially fond of Mark Nettles. He also enjoyed the company of his best friends and neighbors Bob and Marge Branch.
He enjoyed attending Kolton and Maycee’s ballgames and all of Megen and Chase’s livestock shows. He enjoyed camping and fishing and summer vacations with his kids and grandkids at the lake. He also enjoyed his spring trips to the Texas Motor Speedway with his wife, son, son’s wife, and grandkids to watch the NASCAR races.
Bud never met a stranger.
He passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011. He also leaves behind many, many friends. He will be sorely missed! His family will remember him as a great husband, dad, and papa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating.
Interment will follow at Carney Cemetery, Carney, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
