WILLIAM LAWRENCE FLETCHER
1926 - 2014


William Lawrence “Gale” Fletcher was born on July 30, 1926, in Ramona, Oklahoma, and departed this life on August 22, 2014, at his home in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.
Gale, the son of L. E. and Jessie Burd Fletcher, was a resident of Meeker.
He married Betty Fletcher on August 3, 1947, in Ramona, Oklahoma.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps.
Gale owned and operated Fletcher’s Feed Store until his retirement in 1994, and was an agent with Shelter Insurance Company for many years.
He loved his church family and served as a deacon for over 50 years at the First Baptist Church in Meeker. He loved to visit and have people around him.
He also loved raising livestock, being outdoors, and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His parents, and three sisters, Ila, Thurley and Gwen preceded Gale in death.
Gale is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty, of the home and two sons, Harlynn and wife, Kathy of Meeker and Kenny and wife, Jane, of Broken Arrow. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Eric Fletcher and wife, Heather, of Muskogee; T. J. Fletcher and wife, Kris, of Arlington Texas; Cliff Fletcher and wife, Alysha of Wellston; Russell Fletcher of Meeker; Regina Gamble of Arlington, Texas; Mandy Meier and husband, Eric of Gardner, Kansas, Christopher Fletcher and wife, Jackie of Harrah; Clayton Fletcher and fiancé, Shala of Meeker, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous friends.
The Fletcher family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Meeker.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Meeker with Rev. Joe Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
