TOM ELLIS FISHER

17 Oct 1937 - 15 Dec 2016

Tom Ellis Fisher was born on October 17, 1937, in Peoria, Illinois, and departed this life on Thursday, December 15, 2016, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 79.

Tom, was the definition of a cowboy, who'd been riding and training horses since the early age of four. A trained horseman Tom met and went into partnership with Lisa Herman racing Pixies Avenger in 1987 in Birmingham, Alabama and continued traveling the east coast with their race horses. In 1993 Tom and Lisa opened the Sand Creek Training Center which they operated for 25 years. In addition to Lisa, Tom's neighbor and dear friend Al Rodgers played a major role in Tom's life. To the end, Lisa and Al were the nearest thing to family that Tom had. Tom was a musician, he loved to sing. Tom would often inspire the people of his church as he in his weakened state of health would make his way up onto the stage, oxygen tank in hand to sing.

Survivors include his friend and business partner, Lisa Herman; neighbor and friends, Al and Lois Rodgers; friends, Becky and Shawn Smith; friends from his horse training business and his beloved animals.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined at the Meeker First Baptist Church, with Joe Jones officiating.
