JIMMIE LEE FISHER
1945 - 2009


Former Wellston resident Jimmie Lee Fisher died on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at his home in Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 64.
He was born March 23, 1945, in Cushing to Laverne and Irene Fisher.
Jimmie grew up in Wellston, Oklahoma, and attended Wellston Public Schools.
He joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War and served on nuclear submarines in the North Atlantic for four years helping to run the nuclear reactors. He served on the USS Spadefish, USS John C. Calhoun, and the USS Hammerhead. After leaving the Navy he moved his family to Wellston and began a 29 year career with Seagate, moving up to running the Testing and Calibration Office. His office calibrated test equipment used to test computer hard drives during production. In the early 1990's he moved his family to Yukon. He left Seagate in 2001. He then attended vo-tech and earned several computer certifications which led to teaching computers for a semester.
After retiring, he enjoyed doing genealogy research, and having visits from his large family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Carol Jean Fisher who died at a few days old.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Louise {Schmidt} Fisher; three sons, three daughters and their spouses: Larry and Amy Fisher of Okemah; Tammy and Bobby Copeland of Oklahoma City; Robert Fisher of Yukon; Teresa and John Day of Shawnee; Christapher Fisher of Yukon; and Connie and Richie Givens of Tuttle; and an ex-daughter-in-law and her spouse: Jana and Frank Chastain.
He has two surviving sisters: Shirley and Jimmy Hill of Canterbury, Connecticut and Willa Fisher of Wellston.
He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Heather Fisher, Skeeter Givens, Melissa Doty, Brooke Givens, Jessie Copeland, Megan Givens, Kyle Fisher, Cheyenne Copeland, Michael Day, Summer Givens, Christa Day, and Jimmie Fisher's namesake, Jimmie Day, a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on October 30, 2009 at Lehman Funeral Home Chapel in Wellston. Burial will be at Carney Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
