FRIEDA MAE EVANS
1918 - 2011

She was born to Jesse and Wanda Collyar in Shamrock, Oklahoma. She grew up there and graduated from Shamrock High School.
On December 7, 1935 she married James C. “Buck” Evans. They were married for sixty-three years until his death in 1998. They had three sons – Jim, Daryl and Keith. She spent her life devoted to Christ and to her family.
Frieda was a wonderful homemaker. She provided a stable, loving home environment for her sons, then for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was sure-minded, hard working and deeply committed to her family.
She showed her love through her presence, through cooking, and by providing a restful haven to anyone who entered her home.
She took an active interest in all the many endeavors of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even her great-great grandchildren—travelling to sporting events, business excursions, and musical and theatrical performances of her beloved family until the very end of her long life.
She was also a successful businesswoman. She owned Frieda’s Flowers from 1969 to 1975 and then worked for a number of florists in Perkins and Stillwater.
She attended Perkins First Baptist Church since 1969. Memorial services will be Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Perkins.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jesse and Wanda Collyar, two brothers, Ray Collyar and Bud Collyar, a sister, Hazel Canada, her husband Buck and son, Daryl Evans.
She is survived by sons, James “Jim” Evans of Mustang, Oklahoma and Keith Evans of Troutdale, Oregon, her sister, Minnie Johnson, grandchildren Rick Evans, Trica Gordon, Carla Lester and Amy and Audrey and Lane Evans, fourteen great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren, as well as numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons – Rick Evans, Caleb Lester, Shane McClain, Lane Evans, Scott Lester and Larry Gordon.
