BARBARA RUTH DOGGETT
1935 - 2007


Barbara Ruth Guild Doggett left this world Wednesday, January 3, at Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City.
She was born Barbara Ruth Guild on April 22, 1935, in Prague, Oklahoma.
She graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1960.
In 1956 she married David Hopson Burleson who passed away in 1974.
She married John Doggett in 1980, who continues to be a sterling example of what a husband should be and who continues to be the father that her sons lost.
She was employed by the Department of Human Services in Oklahoma City until her retirement in 2000.
She loved her pet dogs, Gracie, Smokey and Blackie, who lit up her day, and continued to celebrate the life of her late dogs, Joee and Buster. She was a political junkie and a staunch follower of The University of Oklahoma sports, especially football and women's basketball.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Leroy J. Guild Sr. and Melba Lewis Guild; and by her brother, Leroy Joseph "Buddy" Guild Jr., who was killed in Vietnam in 1967.
Survivors include her husband, John Doggett of the home; three sons and in-laws, Hayden and Carrie Burleson of Norman; Ned and Stephenie Burleson of Prague; and Kevin Burleson and Dr. Gregg Smith of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Morgan, Grahm and Carter Burleson of Norman; and Cameron and Kaleb Burleson of Prague.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, at Mercer-Adams.
Burial will follow in Prague Cemetery, Prague under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research Centers or Pets and People Humane Society, 701 Inla Avenue, Yukon, Oklahoma 73099.
Pets and People is a non-kill animal shelter.
