GEORGE L. DETHLOFF
1920 - 2010


George L. Dethloff, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in Tulsa at the age of 90 years.
The son of the late John Dethloff and Alice Dorl Dethloff, George was born on January 29, 1920 in Avery, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in this area, graduating from Cushing High School.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Oxley on June 1, 1946 in Enid, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2007.
George had been a member of the United Association of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for over 59 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church; a veteran of the United States Army, serving his Country during World War II; he enjoyed the outdoors, rather it be fishing, hunting or working in the yard. He was also an avid coin collector and was known by many people around town as “the coin man”.
In addition to his job as a plumber, he had spent many hours on the farm raising cattle.
Survivors include his daughters, Ernestine Cummings and her husband, Jay of Edmond, Oklahoma; Linda Cummings and her husband, Chris of Tryon and Yvonne Williams and her husband, Gary of Cushing; two brothers, Wayne Dethloff and his wife, Shirley of Cushing and Leroy Dethloff of Sugarland, Texas; one sister, Mildred Shaull and her husband, Donald of Pryor, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, LuElla Dethloff of Cushing; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Darlene; two brothers, Eddie Dethloff and Leon Dethloff; two infant siblings and one granddaughter Tiffany.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Robert Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the Avery Cemetery. The Cushing American Legion Post will provide full military services at the cemetery.
