LELA EVELYN DEATHERAGE
1926 - 2015


Lela Evelyn "Suzi" Sanford Deatherage, age 88, of Choctaw, Oklahoma was born on September 17, 1926, in Eastland, Texas. She was the daughter of John Edward and Mary Evelyn Philips Samford. She left this life on Thursday, March 19, 2015, in Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Suzi married Cabot Rex Deatherage on June 5, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona.
She was a member of the Choctaw Church of Christ.
During the war she worked on the B-29 and other aircraft. She worked at the Christian Service Center in Oklahoma City as a volunteer and visited with the homebound in the past ten years. She enjoyed painting and spending time with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William Todd Deatherage and one sister, Appie Thornton.
Survivors include her three sons and daughter-in-law, Tom Deatherage of Harrah, Oklahoma, Cabot Rex Deatherage, Jr. of Choctaw, Craig and Cherlynn Deatherage of Oklahoma City, two brothers, Lon Samford of Humbolt, Arizona, Lance Samford of Humbolt, Arizona, two sisters, Lollie Forney of Phoenix, Arizona, Edna Burdett of Humbolt, Arizona, seven grandchildren, Christina Thompson, Misty Martin, Evelyn Weaver, Steven Deatherage, Donnie Deatherage, Stephanie Chandler and Alicia Breslin; sixteen great-grandchildren, Christayla Vessar, Tanis Thompson, Nicholas Martin, Sarah Martin, Alyssa Martin, Declan Weaver, Kyann Weaver, Gavin Weaver, Jared Deatherage, Bailey Deatherage, Rayden Deatherage, Riley Deatherage, Madison Deatherage, Albert Chandler, Degan Breslin and Ella Deatherage and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Choctaw Church of Christ, Choctaw, Oklahoma.
Interment will follow at Jamison Cemetery, McLoud, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, Oklahoma.
