HARVEY EUGENE CORTER
1929 - 2009


Harvey Eugene Corter, age 79 of Cushing, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at his home in Cushing.
He was born in Welling, Oklahoma on October 25, 1929 to Johnny and Rosa Carmichael Corter.
Harvey was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn on December 29, 1942 and ordained elder in Wichita, Kansas on May 6, 1958.
He married Gearldean Toles on November 9, 1947 in Tulare, California. To this union four children were born, Marlin, Richard, Sheryl and Becky.
Harvey helped to start four churches: Redding, California; Wichita, Kansas, Louisburg, Missouri and Billings, Oklahoma. He started his ministries in Arcata, California during his early days.
Through the labor of his ministries, he was able to introduce the faith to many individuals. In doing so, he and his family have received many phone calls from such individuals and their children thanking them for his faithfulness and teachings, which encouraged them to join the faith.
Even in sickness, he still exhibited his faith and trust in God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marlin Wayne Corter, his sister, Shirley Bernice Corter, his brother, Charles Evert Corter, his son, Waymon Eugene Corter and his daughter, Carol Jean Corter.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Gearldean Corter of the home; children, Marlin Wayne Corter of Cushing, Richard Lee Corter of Cushing, Sheryl Lynn Doss of Wichita, Kansas and Becky Jo Burt of Cushing, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Melfouse Corter of Parkland, two sisters, Zella Overacker of Cushing and Velma Huckabay of Snohomish, Washington, and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at the Church of the Firstborn in Cushing. Brother Wayne Tibbett and Brother Richard Wright will officiate.
Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
