GEARLDEAN CORTER
1928 - 2009


Gearldean Toles Corter, a Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009 in Cushing at the age of 81 years.
The daughter of the late Robert Lorne Toles and Pearl Marie Covington Toles, Gearldean was born on September 21, 1928 in Parkland, Oklahoma.
Gearldean was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn on October 13, 1946 in Kings River near Kingsboro, California by Brother Dell Overacker.
She was united in marriage to Harvey Corter on November 9, 1947 in Tulare, California and to this union six children, Marlin Wayne, Waymon Eugene, Richard Lee, Sheryl Lynn, Becky Jo, and Carol Jean, were born.
Gearldean and Harvey lived in Wichita, Kansas on and off since 1955 and had lived there full time for the past thirty five years before moving to Cushing in April of 2008. While living in Wichita Gearldean owned and operated a quilting store called Village Machine.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She also served as a midwife for several members of her church family and she loved to sing and whistle.
Survivors include four children, Marlin Wayne Corter and his wife Shawn-Elyn of Cushing; Richard Lee Corter of Cushing; Sheryl Lynn Doss and her husband Ron of Wichita, Kansas; and Becky Jo Burt and her husband Danny of Cushing; two sisters, Glenda Faye Taylor and her husband Earl of Agra and Jo Anna Marie Cramer of Cushing; fifteen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gearldean was preceded in death by her husband Harvey in July of 2009, two brothers, William "Bill" Arthur Toles and Bobby Wayne Toles, and two sisters, Syble Laverne Rossiter and Mary Margaret Toles.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a. m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the Church of the Firstborn in Cushing with Brothers Richard Wright and Everett Rossiter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
