HELEN FRANKIE COLCLASURE
1919 - 2015


Helen Frankie Crow Colclasure was born in Pitcher, Oklahoma, on June 9, 1919, to Earl Francis "Buck" Crow and Alta Mae Smalley Crow.
She attended schools at Commerce, Hominy, Muskogee and Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school in Sapulpa, she attended college in Sapulpa, an extension of the University of Oklahoma. During this time she was a cub reporter for the Tulsa Tribune Newspaper.
While attending college, she met and married I. E. "Bud" Colclasure. They were married in Pryor, Oklahoma on January 14, 1939.
To this union was born three children, Sherrilyn Malaby of McPherson, Kansas; Bruce Colclasure of Depew and Michael Colclasure, deceased.
She leaves nine grandchildren, and many great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren.
Helen was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Bud; her son, Michael and her twin brother, Howard.
Helen and Bud served under the Home Mission Board for 22 years as Assistant Coordinators for Northeastern Oklahoma as volunteer missionaries. In an area covering the entire western half of the United States they served by building churches, parsonages, painting garages, serving as Sunday School teachers and filling in as interim pastors. She served as Christian Service Corps State Coordinator for the state of Texas. She was a guest speaker at the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma at Council Road Baptist Church. She was also a guest speaker at the State Acteen convention at Oklahoma Baptist University. Helen conducted workshops at Glorietta and was missionary speaker at Falls Creek for two years.
In 1990, Helen and Bud were selected as outstanding missionaries in the United States and were presented with a lifetime award in Glorietta by the Home Mission Board.
Helen always felt her special calling was to teach and she taught Sunday School for 50 years.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2015, at the Chandler First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating.
Burial followed at Stroud Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler, Oklahoma.
