ZELMA MAE CHRISTY
1927 - 2011


Zelma Mae Baber Christy, 84, was born May 7, 1927 in Wellston, Oklahoma to Purl Z. Baber and Eva Ethel Wayne Calloway and passed away Monday December 26, 2011 in Henrietta, Oklahoma.
She married Carl Jackson Christy during World War II while in high school.
Zelma earned a Masters of Education Degree in 1965 and taught school as well as working as principal in the Luther School System before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Christy; brothers Burl, John, George and Paul Baber; sisters, Mary McPherson, Ruth Barnard and Hellen Legako; and daughter-in-law Iris Christy.
She is survived by her sons, Larry and wife Zandra Christy of Okmulgee, Thomas and wife Frances Christy of Checotah and James and wife Paula Christy of Wellston; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Wellston Assembly of God with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home.
