CHARLES BEN CASTLEBERRY
1924 - 2015


Charles Ben Castleberry was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on July 29, 1924 and went home to be with his Lord in Oklahoma City on Monday August 3, 2015 at the age of 91 years.
Charles was the son of Gerry Lafayette and Bertha Holland Castleberry.
He graduated from Davenport High School at the age of 16. He worked on the family farm raising cotton and cattle. Later Charles worked for Allied Materials and as dispatcher for Rogers Trucking Company. He also had the opportunity to work for John Cassidy Enterprises.
He married the love of his life, Etta Winkleman on November 30, 1944.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a life long member or the First Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and served on a number of other committees.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Gerry and Bertha Castleberry, a sister, Virginia Castleberry Branam and one son who died shortly after birth.
He is survived by his wife, Etta Winkleman Castleberry of Stroud, two daughters, Charla Castleberry Owens and husband John of Stroud, Linda Castleberry Moring and husband Herb of Shawnee, four sons, Gerry Castleberry and wife Alice of Perry, Douglas Castleberry and wife Susan of Stroud, Charles Castleberry Jr. of Stroud and Alan Castleberry and wife Tina of Stillwater, ten grandchildren, Douglas Castleberry Jr., Brian Castleberry, Melody Castleberry, Stephanie Keegan- Moring, Michael Owens, Sara Moring Ledford, Jennifer Novotny, Aaron Castleberry, Steven Castleberry, Susan Moring and Randa Lynn Castleberry, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Stroud, Oklahoma. Pastor James Bond officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stroud Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services of Stroud.
