FREEDA FAY CARTER
1923 - 2007

Freeda Fay Carter left this life on September 2, 2007 at the age of 83.
Freeda was born December 30, 1923 to Earl Carter and Ruth Hutcheson Carter in Milfay, Oklahoma.
She received her early education in Three Sands, Oklahoma and graduated from Ripley High School in 1941. Following her employment with AT&T in Cushing, she moved to Oklahoma City where she was employed with Carter Oil Company that later became Humble Oil before finally becoming Exxon. During her career Freeda was a charter member of the Women’s Oil Association and her design was chosen as the club logo. Freeda spent 39 years working as a draftsman in both Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas until her retirement in 1984.
During her lifetime she enjoyed square dancing, playing golf, photography and traveling. After moving to Cushing following her retirement, Freeda enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Gladiola garden club. Freeda was a member of the Cushing Christian Church and enjoyed her church family until deteriorating health kept her housebound. She was a loving generous person who enjoyed spending time caring for her loved ones. She had been a resident of Linwood Village since October of 2006 and had lately been ministered to during her last days by Judith Karman Hospice.
In addition to her parents, Freeda was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Jenkins and brother, Marion "Corky" Carter.
Surviving relatives include her nieces, Marilyn Rubenstein and husband Gene of Cushing and their sons Mark Rubenstein of Louisville, Kentucky and Jay Rubenstein of Paris, France, niece, Laura Wilson and husband Mike, great-nieces, Heather Rodomski and Rebekah Daly all of Summerville, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Judith Karman Hospice, envelopes are available at Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
