JAN EVELYN CAMPBELL
1939 - 2016


Jan Spurgin was born on April 2, 1939 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Wesley and Vivian Spurgin.
She passed away on May 2, 2016.
She spent the majority of her young life in Stroud, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1957. While in high school Jan enjoyed playing basketball for the Lady Tigers. She was also the majorette and played the clarinet in the Stroud Band.
Jan met Jerry Campbell in 1949 when she was 10; she knew then that he was the love of her life. They were married in the summer of 1956.
Jan and Jerry had three children, Jerry Jr., Steven and David.
From Stroud they moved to Edmond, where Jerry attended College and Jan worked outside the home. Then their life together took them to Oklahoma City, East Texas, Haughton, Lousiana and finally retiring in Noble, Louisiana on Toledo Bend Lake.
Jan and Jerry loved dancing, hunting, fishing and camping, especially when the boys were little. They traveled often, including Europe and Alaska.
She is survived by her husband Jerry; son, Steven and wife Kathleen, grandchildren Lexie, Logan, Lily and Landon of North Port, Alabama, grandson, Cory of Bloomington, Illinois, her son, David of Noble, Lousiana, Jan’s brother, Don and wife Verba of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and brother-in-law, Bob Campbell of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Jan is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Jan loved the Lord, was a Christian and attended church at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Noble, Lousiana.
Jan loved life, her family and people in general. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Huan Le, Dr. Richard Morrison and the nurses and other staff who took wonderful care of Jan as well as Life care Hospital and to Rick and Lola Wing of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be May 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, 504 N. 8th St., Stroud, Oklahoma with burial at Stroud Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Shriner Hospitals for Children Processing Center, PO Box 1510, Ranson, West Virginia 25438-4510.
