MARY GENE BURROWS
1924 - 2015

Mary Gene Griswold Burrows, age 91, entered the kingdom of Heaven on July 12, 2015. She was born in Agra, Oklahoma in March 22, 1924.
She grew up on the farm which was deeded to the family from the Oklahoma Land Rush.
She attended Oklahoma State University where she met her husband Jim Burrows. They married in 1947. Together they began their life in the United States Air Force. Mary was a devoted Air Force wife and supported her husband throughout his entire military life. Their last assignment brought them to Eglin AFB where they would later retire in “Vale of Paradise” on Toms Bayou.
Mary was an artist in every sense. She painted many pictures and loved both acrylic and watercolor. She was very involved in Valparaiso Garden club and Florida Native Plant club. She and Jim both planted several gardens and plants in Valparaiso. When she wasn’t painting, she was doing flower arrangements and gardening. The family loved the outdoors and traveled in their RV to many National Parks and finally to their dream vacation in Alaska. Mary was a long time member of the Niceville United Methodist Church and she loved attending her ladies circle meetings and hosting the group at her home on the water.
Mary was always the sweetest, kindest and the most optimistic and fun-loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Everyone that met her fell in love with her and her great sense of humor. We have complete faith knowing that Mary is smiling in heaven where she is welcomed by Jesus, and her preceded family: mother and Father, John and Charlena Griswold, 3 sisters, Freda Hoover, Thressa Simes, and Emma Lee Walters, her husband of 49 years, Lt.Col. {Retired} James H. Burrows and son, Gary Lee Burrows.
Mary is survived by her twin brother, Eugene Marion Griswold, daughter, Lee Ann Camizzi, grandson, Joseph Camizzi and great-grandsons, Jayden and Camden, two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Rev. Allan Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Osage Cemetery in Agra.
A memorial service will be held at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home in Niceville, Florida on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:00 pm.
The family would like to express a very deep appreciation to Belvedere Commons Assisted Living in Ft. Walton Beach and to the beautiful employees of Hospice Emerald Coast. We know our mother felt truly loved in their care. The family would also like to express our appreciation for all the prayers and expressions of love from friends.
