DARLENE RUTH BURLESON
1919 - 2011


Darlene Ruth Waterbury Burleson, 92, passed away August 21, 2011, at home near Wellston with loved ones present.
She was born to Grant and Dora Waterbury near Pocasset, Oklahoma on March 24, 1919, the youngest of four children.
She graduated from Verden High School.
On August 1, 1937, she married Wilbert Lee Burleson at her family’s home near Pocasset, and together they were blessed with five children.
Darlene was a full-time homemaker and mother who enjoyed following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives, participating in church activities, and reading volumes of books. Her gentle, quiet and caring nature will be missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers Harry Waterbury and Lewis Waterbury; sister Nina Elmore and grandson Troy Swafford.
She is survived by her children Rosa Lee {Virgil} Swafford of Wellston; Charlotte {Ola Bon} Fouquet of Sparks; David {Martha} Burleson of Schertz, Texas; Angela {John} Tedesco of Johnston, Iowa; Daniel {Margaret Wilson} Burleson of Corvallis, Oregon; beloved caretaker Betty {John} Mayfield of Wellston; ten grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and numerous friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. August 25, 2011, at the Wellston United Methodist Church with burial at Rossville Cemetery.
Lehman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Wellston United Methodist Church or the Troy Swafford Memorial Scholarship Fund {Stroud National Bank at Wellston}.
