CARL HUSTON BURGESS
1920 - 2016


Carl Huston Burgess, long-time Rock Springs, Oklahoma, resident was born July 1, 1920, he departed this life on May 18, 2016, in Chandler at the age of 85 years.
Huston was the son of Carl and Alice Keller Burgess.
He married Vera Terry in 1944. Houston worked for Red Bud / Goodners Grocery Store in Chandler for thirty-five plus years.
His parents, one son, six sisters, and two brothers, preceded Huston in death.
Survivors include his wife of seventy one years, Vera; three sons, Billy Johnson of Oakland, California, David Burgess of Memphis, Tennessee and Harold Burgess of Chandler; two daughters, Carolyn Marsh of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Patricia Johnson of Chandler, Oklahoma; Alfonso "Stuffy" Neal, raised in the home, and was a caregiver; two sisters, Mae Caldwell of Sweet Home, Oklahoma and Faye Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Rev. David Burgess officiating.
Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
