THOMAS LaROY BROWN
1946 - 2016




Thomas LaRoy Brown, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 in Cushing at the age of 69 years.
The son of Melvin Donald “Don” Brown and the late Velma Vera Wolff Brown, Thomas was born on March 14, 1946 in Cushing, where he was also raised and educated.
He attended Okmulgee Tech trade school and following this, he worked as a print setter for the Bristow newspaper. Prior to his retirement, Thomas had worked as an assistant manager for the Philip Station on the turnpike.
Thomas was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
He enjoyed reading books and newspapers; spending time with his family, especially the little children; he loved his role in passing out bulletins at church on Sunday’s and especially loved dogs.
Survivors include his father, Don Brown of Cushing; his siblings, Melvin Brown and his wife Cassie of Stroud; Ricky Brown of Cushing; Phyllis Brown and her husband Thomas of Moore; Judith Bush and her husband Ronald of Cushing and Sherry Jenkins and her husband Robert of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, Gene Smith of Lubbock, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his mother, Thomas was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Smith and one sister-in-law, Anita Brown.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer with Reverend Mark Duer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, Pew Cushions, in his memory.
