REV. JOHN WALTER BROWERS
1889 - 1984


Rev. John Walter Browers, 94, of Stroud, died Friday, April 6, in Stroud Hospital.
Services are set for 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Stroud First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill E. Browers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery.
Curry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Rev. Browers was born September 29, 1889 in Harrison, Arkansas, and married Sallie Messick on that date in 1909 at Mount Park, Oklahoma. They moved to Stroud in 1978 from Lake Texoma.
He served forty five years in the ministry of the Methodist church, retiring in 1956.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie, May 10, 1983 and six children.
Survivors include four sons, Richard Browers of Richmond, California, J. Walter Browers, Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, Clyde Browers of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Bill Browers of Kingston, Oklahoma, three daughters, Janie Sowards and Dollie Mercer of Stroud, Oklahoma and Lucretia Beverage of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, twenty grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
