BERNICE EZMA BLANEY
1910 - 2007


Bernice Ezma Blaney, age 97, of Stroud passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in Jenks, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Blaney was born on June 8, 1910 to William S. and Mable C. Summer Satterfield in Stroud, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Stroud and married Willis Earl Blaney in 1927 in Davenport, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Stroud.
She retired as a supervisor after 20 years with General Telephone Company. She then worked at Sharpe's Department Store, as a Police dispatcher for the City of Stroud, and did volunteer work for the Salvation Army Clothing Store for several years until it closed. She then sat on her porch and kept watch on Stroud until she could no longer live alone.
Bernice lived with her granddaughter, Janet McCoy until her death.
She is survived by one son, Willis “Bill” Earl Blaney, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Stroud; two daughters, Betty Laffoon of Stroud; and Joyce Christy Wilburn and husband Don of Stroud; six grandsons, Jerry Blaney and wife Jean, of Wichita, Kansas; Phillip Blaney and wife Jan of Wichita, Kansas; Jimmy Christy and wife Tina of Davenport, Oklahoma; Danny Blaney and wife Debbie of Rogers, Arkansas; David Blaney of Stroud; Steve Laffoon and wife Dawn of Oklahoma City; six granddaughters, Janet McCoy of Jenks, Oklahoma; Connie Wood and husband Jimmy of Kingwood, Texas; Belinda Morris and husband Tony of Stroud; Anita Kinnamon and husband Keith of Chandler; Janese Schulty and husband David of Indianapolis, Indiana; Debbie Boyer of Ward, Arkansas; one sister, Leota Amsey of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; four nieces; a nephew and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Darrell Blaney in 1981; and Jerald Blaney in 2001; a daughter, Helen Jean Blaney Higgins in 1998; one grandson, Brian Blaney; and one great grandson, Ala Jones.
Funeral services for Mrs. Blaney will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, December 21, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Stroud, Oklahoma with Reverend Don Wilburn and Reverend Paul Ragle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.
