ROY C. ADAMS
1926 - 2013

Roy C. Adams, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Tuesday evening, April 16, 2013 at his home at the age of 86 years.
The son of the late William Robert Adams and Maude Patterson Adams, Roy was born on September 15, 1926 in Davenport, Oklahoma.
Raised and educated in the Wellston area, Roy graduated from Wellston High School. Following high school, Roy enlisted in the Air Force Reserves serving his Country in World War II.
While in high school he met Gladys Williams and the couple married on December 18, 1946. They made their first home at the Vet Village in Stillwater where he worked in a print shop while Gladys worked at a dry cleaner in order to put Roy through school. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2012. The couple enjoyed over 63 years of marriage prior to her death.
Roy attended and graduated from Oklahoma A & M College with a business and accounting degree.
For over 60 years Roy had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Cushing, where he and Gladys were very active.
Roy began working for Midland Refinery, later Hudson Refinery as an accountant.
He was a long-time member of the Cushing Public School Board of Education and after leaving the board, he served as clerk to the board. While serving on the board, he was very proud of the accomplishments that he and the board made. He was a former member of the Cushing Jaycee’s, Cushing Rotary Club and the Wellston Masonic Lodge.
Roy enjoyed spending time outside, whether it be in his garden, doing yard work or taking care of wildlife, and up until his illness recently, he continued to be a member of the ROMEO Club {real old men eating out}, which meets daily at McDonalds for coffee.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Adams of Ardmore, Oklahoma; one son, Dale Adams of Birmingham, England; one granddaughter, Deborah Adams of Birmingham, England, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother W.D. Adams, age 17, of Wellston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund in his memory.
Visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home.
