ARTHUR WESLEY KOLAR
1924 - 2007


Lifelong Lincoln County resident Arthur W. Kolar passed away on Tuesday, September 11, in Shawnee at the age of 83.
Arthur, the sixth child of Frank and Fannie Smika Kolar, was born January 13, 1924, on the family farm five miles north of Meeker.
He graduated from Meeker High School in 1942 and then served his country in the U. S. Navy. During World War II, Arthur participated in the invasion of Okinawa.
Following the war, he married Juanita Faye Chambers in Winfield, Kansas, on March 29, 1947.
She preceded him in death on December 21, 1990.
Arthur retired in 1972 from Tinker Air Force Base and began devoting full time to his farming operation.
Also preceding Mr. Kolar in death were his parents; three brothers, Frank, Jimmy and Henry; and three sisters, Lillian Nance, Emma Mills and Hattie Fortune.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Ruby Kolar of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Betty Kolar of Oklahoma City; numerous nephews and nieces; other family and many friends.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Marty Kessler officiating.
Burial will follow at the Czech National Cemetery in Prague.
