Nardell Laverne Sneed Maxwell

Nardell Laverne (Sneed) Maxwell was born on May 16, 1934, in Chandler, OK, to Ostell and Lillie Sneed, who preceded her in death. Also one sister (Ostella) and two brothers (Joe Ray and Samuel) preceded her in death. She earned her early education in the Chandler area and graduated from Douglass High School in 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Maxwell, on January 16, 1954, and the two were blessed with six children. Her husband and one son (Earnest) preceded her in death.

Nardell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time listening, laughing, and enjoying her family. Sitting outside on the porch was one of her all-time favorites because she was a friendly person and loved greeting passerbys. People often stopped by to sit and visit with her because she was warm and welcoming. Her home and heart was open to everyone for food, fun, and fellowship. A few of Nardell’s creative gifts from God was her homemade sweet potato pies, dumplings, and dressing. Another way she relaxed was by sitting next to her favorite lamp while working in her jumbo word search puzzle book. As much as she loved her puzzle book, it did not compare to her friends and family. She would immediately put away her puzzle book when she saw company arriving; eager to extend her warm hospitality. Nardell‘s warmth was also felt deeply with her church family, where she served as a stewardess and trustee. She also served in various ways in her community and was a member of Community Club #1. Nardell’s energy radiated anytime a Thunder game was on tv. She hardly ever missed a game and always coached and cheered them on whenever possible. Family Feud was one of her favorite television programs. She would encourage and talk to the families as if she was present with them and try to provide them with the winning answers.

One thing for sure, Nardell loved her family. She leaves to cherish her unique personality and precious memories: two sons (Ronald and Melburn), three daughters (Roberta, Linda, and Juanita), eight grandchildren (Anthony, Rodesia, DeMarcus, Madalyn, Ariel, Ellison, Angel, and Ellias), and many great-grandchildren, two sisters (Dorothy and Marilyn), one uncle and aunt (Harvey and Maxine), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

And above all, her love for God was the strongest and her faith remained strong until the end.
