THE HISTORY OF CLEARVIEW CEMETERY

Clearview Cemetery is a beautiful oak tree shaded cemetery located on a three acre tract adjoining Oak Park Cemetery at the southeast corner.
On the east it is bounded by Chandler School property.
It was purchased from Charles and Ada Staubus on August 5, 1910 with L. J. Gates signing for the Clearview Cemetery Association.
In addition to the three acre tract, they own an even older strip of land in the northwest corner that extends north of the three acre tract and was originally a part of Oak Park Cemetery. The strip measures 10 rods by 2 rods.
Burials were made there at last as early as 1904 and perhaps even earlier.
One of the interesting early tombstone inscriptions was for Eliza Tolen, who died February 28, 1904, at the age of 105.
