Sharon Laverne Gist Jewell daughter of Ben and Glenna Jean (Black) Harper was born June 20, 1950 in Stilwell, OK and departed this life on August 7, 2017 in Sallisaw, OK at the age of 67 years and 17 days.

She graduated high school at the age of 16, then attended nursing school at Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. She graduated with a degree in nursing in 1971. She worked in healthcare at many hospitals over the years, but most recently she worked in the ICU at Mercy Hospital prior to her retirement in 2009. She was a caregiver to anyone who needed help, taking care of many children some related and some not, providing them with a home and a safe place. She was always willing to help those she saw in need.

Sharron was preceded in death by her father; Ben Harper and father of her children; Butler Gist.

She is survived by a very loving family that includes her sons; Jeffrey Gist and wife Tracie of Ft. Smith, AR, Christopher Gist, mother; Glenna Jean Hall, sister; Christine Daugherty and husband Johnny all of Stilwell, OK. Brother; Bennie Jo ''Bub'' Harper, grandchildren; Cody Gist, George Gist, Zoey Gist, Julea Gist, Justin Gist, and Rachel Croley. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many close friends also survive her.
