Larry Leon "Doc" Watson, 56, of Shady Point, passed away Aug. 6, 2009, in Russellville, Ark.

He was born March 1, 1953, in Poteau. He was a rancher and a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was an agriculture education teacher at Poteau High School for 28 years and a member of the LeFlore County Fair Board, the LeFlore County Cattlemen's Association as well as many other organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Eva Nell (Wiles) Watson.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Julie Watson of Havana, Ark.; a grandson, Parker Watson of Havana; uncles and aunts, Frank and Bert Wiles and Robert and Elinor Pierce, all of Shady Point and Vera Watson of Poteau; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating.

Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery , Poteau. Pallbearers will be Stephen Fruen, Randy Akins , Billy Thompson, Phil Hamlin, Jason Easley, Jeff Jensen, Everett Seagraves and Greg Qualls. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Thompson, Skip Baxter, Todd Peters, Wayne Jones and Buzz Curry.

The family will be at the home of Frank and Bert Wiles on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. for visitation with relatives, friends and former students.
