Charley Junior Thompson, 72, of Poteau died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in Fort. Smith, Ark., surrounded by his children.

He was born Jan. 5, 1941, in Cameron to the late Charley and Lillian (Goins) Thompson. He was a retired diesel mechanic.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Allie Thompson, Mary Boling, Anna Mae Grossnickleos; and three brothers, Charles, Ronald, Raymond Thompson.

Charley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and David Akins , LaDonna Thompson and Jeff Tadtman, Marilyn and Jason Smith, Dana Thompson; two sons and daughters in-law, Kenneth and Darlene Thompson, Jody and Jeannie Thompson; nine grandchildren, David William Akins , Colton Thompson, Bryce and Emma Sandstoe, Deedra, Shania and Creed Smith, Ryan and Charley Thompson; one great-granddaughter, Zaylee Marie; three brothers, J.B. and Lola Thompson, Wayne and Susie Thompson, Mike and Sherry Thompson; three sisters, Shirlene Oliver, Eva and Jim Garrett, Brenda and Jerry May; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery . Pallbearers will be Bryce Sandstoe, Colton Thompson, Will Akins , Creed Smith, Ryan Thompson, Keith Boling, Troy Boling and Evan Boling.

The family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
